Here are a few things you should know about me and my experience;
I was formerly a licensed real estate agent for many years. Completed numerous professional courses including Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Brokerage, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Law, Real Estate Appraisal as well as continuing education. I passed the exam and got my broker’s license which I maintained for many more years before I chose to let it expire as I had no further interest in actively selling or managing real estate as an agent or broker. Over many years I completed additional training on Real Estate Property Management and Real Estate Investing.
I sold single family houses, condos, townhouses to home owners and investors to use as rental properties and I managed single family, and multifamily rental units including multiple apartment complexes. Additional experience was gained by having owned multiple residential properties over many years both as residences and as rentals – some rentals I managed personally – others I hired other professional property managers to handle for me. The rentals units I managed for others included more than 200 units total. I have dealt with every tenant issue you can imagine.
I am no longer licensed nor do I ever intend to be again. My interests in real estate are now strictly as a private owner, investor, author and instructor independently teaching and sharing what I have learned. I still devour countless books and articles on real estate even now. Sometimes I even find a small kernel of useful information among the fluff and filler that make up more of the content out there than not.
In real life in real estate both personally and working with others I have learned numerous lessons. Some the easy way from books, manuals, courses and training and directly from other very talented people with years of experience themselves – other lessons I had to learn the hard way.
Too many gurus, books, seminars and courses paint all pretty pictures – and never show you the ugly. Instead they tell you what you want to hear so you will pay big bucks for their super-duper Real Estate Secrets course. In reality most of such courses are just very expensive garbage. Others do have some bits of useful information – but it’s buried beneath mountains of fluff.
